On May 21st, the Community Center Visioning Committee hosted over 50 Park Township residents for a report-out and visioning workshop. At the start of the event, committee co-chairs Bryan Jones and Len Pilon reported the results of community outreach efforts to date. The committee has analyzed community input and has prepared a draft vision statement, guiding principles and a list of preferred amenities.
Look & Feel Workshop
After the presentation, residents joined together to view, discuss and participate in a voting exercise for various architectural and design elements. For each major activity area (e.g. gym, cafe, outdoor, kid’s play area), participants reviewed four photos of benchmark facilities from across the country and voted on which was their favorite (resonated most in terms of look and feel) and which was their least favorite.
The committee then tallied the votes and prepared a brief presentation to help encapsulate the community’s design preferences. This output will serve as an important guide when the Township launches a Request for Proposal (RFP) process later this year to identify an architectural firm to undertake the design of the proposed Community Center.

What’s Next
Over the course of the summer, the Park Township Community Center Visioning Committee, which also includes design and construction professionals, will prepare a descriptive, feasible multiphase approach for the evaluation. The community is invited to join once again for the committee’s September 16 meeting, where it will finalize its report with the community’s consensus and recommendations to the Park Township Board of Trustees for the subsequent Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
